Orange Shirt Day

This year we will mark Orange Shirt Day on Thursday, September 29.  Please wear orange to commemorate the experiences of Aboriginal children in the residential school system.  This day grew out of survivor Phyllis Webstad’s account of having her orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the St. Joseph Mission Residential School in Williams Lake, B.C.  Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools, and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for
generations of children to come.

There will be a group picture today at break outside the front of the school for all those wearing an orange shirt or button.
