Core competencies are part of every class at Byrne Creek and vary in how they are developed. For instance, communication in math class may look rather different from communication in dance class. Teachers at Byrne Creek are working to help students recognize when they are using and building their core competencies, and identify strengths and areas in need of further growth. All grade 8 and 9 students are required to complete a yearly self-reflection that self-assesses the development of their core competencies.
